A Give to Lincoln donation to OpenSky helps bring clarity to our fiscal debate

At our Fall Policy Symposium in November, a former state senator noted that the learning curve for a new lawmakers regarding our state’s fiscal debate proved to be much steeper than he initially realized.

He went on to say bringing clarity to that vital debate is what makes our work at OpenSky so critical. His words are particularly poignant as the Legislature prepares to welcome at least 11 new senators this November, which means at least two-thirds of the body will be composed of senators with two or fewer years in the Legislature when lawmakers reconvene in January.

By supporting OpenSky with a Give to Lincoln Day gift, you can help ensure our state’s new and established leaders have access to data and analysis that brings clarity to the tax, budget and school funding debates that are so important to our state’s schools, communities and economy.

Because it helps us secure a portion of a $300,000 matching pool generously offered by the Lincoln Community Foundation, a gift to OpenSky on or before Give to Lincoln Day is a great way to maximize your support of our mission to improve opportunities for every Nebraskan. Last year during Give to Lincoln, our generous supporters helped us raise more than $28,000, including more than $3,000 in matching funds. We hope to surpass that this year.

You can help ensure we continue to be a trusted resource to our state’s leaders via:

  • An online donation to OpenSky through our Give to Lincoln Website;
  • A gift from a Lincoln Community Foundation Donor Advised Fund; or
  • Check or cash gifts dropped off at the Lincoln Community Foundation (215 Centennial Mall, Suite No. 100) on Give to Lincoln Day. Checks must be made out to “Lincoln Community Foundation” with “OpenSky Policy Institute” written in the memo line.

If you plan to donate by check, feel free to mail it to or drop it by our office and we will hand-deliver it to the foundation office. Checks must be in our office by May 26. Our office address is:
