OpenSky statement on May’s tax receipts report
LINCOLN — Below is a statement from OpenSky Policy Institute Executive Director Renee Fry regarding the Department of Revenue’s May Tax Receipts Report.
“Even though receipts came in slightly above forecast in May, our shortfall still is on pace to grow by about $70 million when the fiscal year ends at the end of this month. It’s also worth noting that sales tax receipts have been below forecasts nearly every month for the past year. If sales tax receipts continue to trail forecasts, we could see the shortfall increase.”
