A state lawmaker has asked Nebraska’s Secretary of State to remove a referendum from the November 2024 ballot that, as it stands now, would give voters a chance to repeal the state’s controversial law providing tax incentives for donors to scholarship funds for private and faith-based schools.

Sen. Lou Ann Linehan of Elkhorn sent a letter to Nebraska’s secretary of state Monday saying the referendum to appeal the so-called Opportunity Scholarships Act “raises constitutional concerns.”
