Nebraska lawmakers launched Wednesday into a long-awaited debate about Gov. Jim Pillen’s plan to cut property taxes by raising state sales taxes.

But they adjourned for the day before reaching a vote on Legislative Bill 388, the tax-related portions of the plan. They are not expected to resume debate until next week, after State Sen. Lou Ann Linehan of the Omaha area asked for a pause until at least Tuesday.
