Evidence-based budgeting bill on legislative agenda

Today (Monday)  is the first full-day of floor debate this session and one of the items on the Legislature’s agenda that could come up for debate this afternoon is LB 1092.

The bill would have state agencies certify in their budget requests whether programs or practices they administer are “evidence-based.”

OpenSky testified in support of the measure during an Appropriations Committee hearing, noting that LB 1092 could help improve service outcomes by increasing the use of proven methods, and, as a result, better ensure tax dollars are used effectively.

The debate can be viewed on NET 2 or on online via NET’s live stream.
