Norfolk Daily News on November 19: Property taxes discussed at ‘Community Conversation’

The consensus at Wednesday night’s “community conversation” in Norfolk was that property taxes are too high in Nebraska.

What was disagreed upon was exactly how to fix that.

This was the second “community conversation” event, sponsored by the Daily News, U.S. Bank and Northeast Community College.

About 100 people, many of them rural Northeast Nebraskans, turned out to offer their thoughts as well as hear from Sen. Galen Hadley of Kearney, speaker of the Nebraska Legislature, and the executive directors of two Nebraska-based thinktanks — Renee Fry of the OpenSky Policy Institute and Jim Vokal of the Platte Institute for Economic Research.
