Performance Audit Committee meeting to feature incentives report, Pew presentation

The Legislature’s Performance Audit Committee on Friday will meet regarding its third tax-incentives report, which it released Wednesday.

Earlier this year the committee put out a report that showed the state spends up to $234,568 to create a single job under a tax-incentive program.

Following discussion on the report, Robert Zahradnik of the Pew Charitable Trust will discuss recommendations for regular evaluations of tax incentives and informing lawmakers’ policy choices with evidence from evaluations. Zahradnik has done extensive research on state tax incentive evaluation and long-term budgeting practices.

NET will stream the meeting, which starts at 1:30 p.m. in the State Capitol, Room 1524. The meeting is open to the public but testimony is by invitation only. We will provide updates from the meeting on our Twitter page.
