Supporters of strong public schools in Nebraska turned in 117,000 petition signatures on Wednesday in an effort to give voters the final say on LB 753, the measure creating private school scholarship tax credits.

Throughout the signature gathering campaign, OpenSky Policy Institute has shared information on the details of LB 753, including the implications that students shifting from public schools to private schools could have on the state’s school-aid formula.

Once signatures are verified, a vote on repealing LB 753 would be scheduled for the November 2024 General Election.
