A coalition of more than 40 Nebraska businesses and organizations formally launched their opposition campaign Thursday to a petition drive aimed at changing the state’s Constitution to upend Nebraska’s tax system.

The group, named No New Taxes Nebraska, raised alarm at a Thursday news conference over the proposed “EPIC Option,” which seeks to eliminate property, income, inheritance and corporate taxes in Nebraska, replacing them with a consumption tax on all new goods and services, except groceries.
