Forecasting blog updated to include revised shortfall number

We have updated our blog post from Friday regarding the recent revenue forecasting board meeting to include revised figures for the projected budget shortfall for the next biennium.

The revised forecast made by the Nebraska Economic Forecasting Advisory Board on Thursday did reduce the projected budget gap lawmakers will have to fill in the upcoming biennium from about $787 million to about $291 million. We initially reported the revised shortfall was projected to be $362 million. We also revised the blog to note the state would have had about a $133 million projected surplus as opposed to a projected shortfall had the income tax credit in LB 1107 not passed.
