Is there any topic in Nebraska today that generates more opinions than property taxes?

“They’re too high.”

“They’re not fair.”

“The Nebraska Legislature should do something about them.”

“Replace them with a higher sales tax.”

Those kinds of comments are part of the ongoing discussion over property taxes in Nebraska — and they’ll be especially pertinent at an upcoming public event in Norfolk.

The second “community conversation” event sponsored by the Daily News, U.S. Bank and Northeast Community College is set for Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Cox Activities Center theater on the Northeast campus.
