OpenSky welcomes new board member and fellows

OpenSky is excited to announce that Claude E. Berreckman, Jr., has joined our board of directors and Will Kay and Mary Baumgartner have joined our staff as fellows.

Claude resides in Cozad where he is managing partner in the Berreckman, Davis & Bazata, P.C. law firm. A 1982 graduate of the University of Nebraska College of Law, Claude has long been active within Nebraska’s legal community having filled many roles within the Nebraska State Bar Association as well as serving on the 11th District Judicial Nominating Committee and the District 6 Committee on Inquiry. He fills a number of service roles in the Cozad community as well.

Will is our new Weitz Fellow. A recent graduate of Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., Will previously was an intern with the Center for Global Policy Solutions and he also participated in Carleton’s Project Friendship mentoring program for three years. The Weitz Fellowship Program is supported by the Weitz Family Foundation of Omaha and places recent Carleton College graduates in positions with non-profits in Lincoln and Omaha.

Mary Baumgartner — also a recent Carleton College graduate — is our latest OpenSky Fellow. Prior to her graduation, Mary worked on a Minnesota House of Representatives campaign, was an intern at CHUM — a non-profit in Duluth, Minn. — and she helped lead Carleton’s Adopt-a-Grandparent program.
